Two Poems (February 20, 2009. Issue 14.)

Work All Week And On Wednesday Do Nothing

I work all week
And on Wednesday do nothing
Just sit there, maybe drink

Occasionally people ask me,
Or even phone,
saying:

“Wouldn’t you like
to get out
and DO SOMETHING?”

They have cushy jobs
They don’t understand
How joyous it truly is

Just to be able to sit
For one day
With no compulsion to move

Rodents, Vermin, and Fiscal Projections

Let the
Bugs crawl
Across the floor

Let the
Rats
Run free

Let the
Rent be
Torn again

This is
No time
To be unkind
